There hasn’t been much that has happened since the money for the high school has been raised last October….but what few things that have happened have been nothing short of miracles! The most exciting thing occurred back in February when my college, UNCG, did a story about raising the money for the high school! Shortly after that story was posted on the UNCG website (click here to read the story), I received an email from a professor in the Interior Architecture Department! A couple of years ago, the Interior Architecture Department built a school in Ghana! She informed me that they had a donor that gave them $50,000 and the only condition is that it had to be used on a school in Africa! She contacted me and said she would love to put that money towards the high school that will be built at the orphanage!
We are working closely together and hopefully over the next few years we will be putting that money towards a library at the school and starting a school for kids with special needs. We plan to also start a scholarship program with UNCG that allows students from the orphanage to study at UNCG for a semester or two and allows UNCG students to visit the orphanage! This is huge so please pray that all of this will work out!
This is a big dream that God has put on my heart!
Within the next week, we will be sending over about $4,000 to the orphanage so that they can start gathering mud bricks and other supplies for building the school! I will be taking the rest of the money with me when I head back over in July to start breaking ground for the school and building it! I will be booking my plane ticket within the next couple of days, but am still about $1,000 short. The extra thousand dollars will be used for my living expenses while in Liberia such as food and travel. Thank you again for your continued support in this crazy journey God is taking me on. This is getting a whole lot bigger than I ever could have imagined! Always keep those beautiful kids in your prayers and may Jesus continue to fill everyone of our hearts!
